Jay's Krispy Fried Chicken sits on N Main Street in Sikeston as a straightforward, no-frills chicken restaurant that feels like a slice of local tradition. The moment you step inside, you’re met with an old-school vibe—nothing flashy, just clean, with a compact dining area and a bustling order counter that reflects its steady local following.

This spot is best known for its fried chicken preparations, which clearly stand out for their home-cooked feel and satisfying crispness. The chicken sandwich and fried okra come highly recommended, delivering that comfort-food balance of familiar flavors and straightforward seasoning. For those looking to dive a bit deeper into classic Southern dinners, the assortment of fried chicken plates, including fried chicken livers and gizzards, offers a genuine taste of comfort without pretense. Patrons find the gizzards especially tender, a nod to careful preparation that sets Jay’s apart from typical fast-food chains.

Sides here are a mixed bag—fries often steal the show with a crispy edge, while staples like mashed potatoes, gravy, and vegetable sides lean more toward solid, dependable accompaniments rather than standout stars. Breakfast hours open up some unexpected pairings, like fried chicken tenders with French toast, which locals seem to appreciate as a satisfying twist on classic diner fare.

Service at Jay’s is quick and friendly, fitting for those who want a decent meal without a long wait. The crowd tends to be locals looking for a hearty lunch or an early dinner, making it a practical stop for anyone passing through or craving a genuine Midwestern fried chicken experience. The small dining room suggests a casual pace—good for a laid-back meal rather than lingering over dinner.

If you’re in Sikeston and crave down-home fried chicken that reminds you a bit of Mom’s cooking but with a dedicated local following, Jay’s Krispy Fried Chicken delivers that straightforward satisfaction.

We ate the fried chicken which was excellent. Sides were so so. The fries were actually the best. We tried mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, corn on the cob, dumplings, it was ok! Not great, but we will be back!!

First time here, recommended by a coworker. Old school feel when you walk in, old school letterbox menu service was very quick and friendly. I got the chicken sandwich and fried okra which is very basic, and they were both 10/10. Both were great!! Feels home cooked in a way. If you're on the fence just do it, this place kicks any fast food chicken joint out of the water easily. Coworkers got 3 piece meals and every piece they got was huge! I ended up spending $11.53 for my sandwich, okra, and drink.

Spectacular little chicken joint. Hands down the best fried gizzard I've ever had. Barely any bite to them as opposed to the crispy fried bubblegum you get most places. The steak biscuit and 3 piece were great as well! Had the Mac and cheese, broccoli and cheese, and turnip greens and all were above average. Staff is friendly and the place isn't super modern but very clean. The prices are almost jaw-dropping in this day and age. Dad and I had lunch for under $20, as opposed to almost $20 each like normal. If you're in Sikeston and in the mood for chicken this place beats out the best of them. 11/10 MUST TRY

I’d come back all the way from North Carolina to have this again. The coleslaw is on another level. For an impressive flavor contrast take a big lump of coleslaw, put it on the fried chicken, and take a bite. Gizzards were perfectly tender and the best I've had from a place. Usually I don't like them that much but these were great.

Authentic Fried Chicken spot. Small dining area. Congested order area. Happy staff and clean restaurant. Open for breakfast which was odd but fried chicken tenders paired with French toast may be my new go-to now. What I wanted was Chicken and Waffles, what I didn't know was what I needed was Chicken and French Toast. Will definitely be back.

Chicken a touch bland. It was all not bad, but nothing particularly *good* either. Okra and biscuits were the best, and they would rank a solid 4/5. Didn't try the gizzards this trip -- forgot about them at order time.
